Imaging His Glory
When non-churched, non-Christians, look at us, what do they see? The image that we give to them is terribly important. We must be a church that displays God’s glory. (By church I mean, the followers of Christ and not the building.) We display the glory of Christ best as we worship Him in all areas of our lives; Sunday-to-Sunday.
Simply, the church is to display Jesus. God intends to use His church to accomplish His purposes; displaying His wise, holy, and loving image for all of your commuity and the world to see.
That is why it is important for us to be different than the world. That is why we must be distinct. For our evangelism, outreach, and gospel work is bound up in how well we display Jesus to our family, neighbors, friends, and co-workers. What we do, what we say, and how we meet together, shows that we either belong to this world or to our Father in Heaven.
The moon has no light of its own. It merely reflects the light of the sun. Be like the moon. The apostle Paul reminds us…
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. -2 Corinthians 3:18
Are you reflecting the Lord’s glory in your home? at work? when you meet for worship? How’s your transformation coming along? What a privilege for us to be able to display Jesus Christ, the Image of the invisible God!
